verdict: Good but expensive air purifier
The Blueair Classic 605 is a Best Buy. It performed fantastically in our CADR tests, and without using up much energy. If you can’t afford it, however, we’ve found other, cheaper, machines that do a terrific job too. It’s surprising that it doesn’t have as many features as others we’ve reviewed at this price point, either.
- Performed well in our CADR tests
- Energy-efficient
- Quiet on lowest setting
- Easy to use
- Very loud on highest setting

- HEPA filter
verdict: Excellent
A great air purifier which will reduce the level of common household allergens in your home without using up too much energy. While it was a Best Buy when we first tested it, a number of higher scoring models we’ve tested since have forced us to raise the bar and has subsequently edged out the Blueair Classic. It’s still an excellent model, but it’s no longer one of the very best.
- Performed well in our CADR tests
- Quiet
- Easy to use
- Energy-efficient
- Removing and replacing the filters is tricky
- Basic instruction manual
Levoit LV-H133 review

Key features
- HEPA filter
verdict: Great air purifier
This Levoit trapped plenty of dust, pollen, and smoke particles in our test chamber. It’s easy to use and energy efficient, too, but that’s not as unique as it used to be. There are now a number of purifiers doing an excellent job, which has subsequently forced us to raise our requirements to be a Best Buy. As a result, this Levoit is no longer a Best Buy, but it remains a very good air purifier.
- Performed well in our CADR tests
- Energy efficient
- Quiet on low speed setting
- Noisy on maximum setting

verdict: Brilliant air purifier
This machine combines excellent air purification with useful features. The companion app is straightforward to use, too. Previously a Best Buy, the evolving standards of the industry has forced us to raise our recommendation threshold. While this Phillips remains an excellent machine, it now falls just short of being a Best Buy air purifier.
- Performed well in our CADR tests
- Simple-to-use app
- Quiet on minimum setting
- Removing and replacing the filters is tricky
- Basic instruction manual
AEG AX91-404GY review

Key features
verdict: Quietly effective
This is a great air purifier. It’s whisper-quiet on the low speed setting and did extremely well in our CADR tests, swiftly removing plenty of dust, pollen, and smoke from the air in our test chamber. While it was a Best Buy when we first tested it, we have since raised the bar for air purifier Best Buys thanks to an influx of higher scoring rivals. This AEG remains a great air purifier, but it’s no longer a Best Buy.
- Performed well in our CADR tests
- Quiet
- Heavy
- App could be better laid out

This purifier reduces the amount of dust, pollen and smoke in the air really well, but it’s noisier than many rivals and it could be easier to use, too. As such it falls narrowly short of the standard required to be a Which? Best Buy.

verdict: Great at clearing pollutants
The Roger Little sounds diminutive, but its air cleaning ability is sizeable. We found some niggles with the ease of use, so chances are that you’ll need to refer to the manual, but overall it put in a solid performance.

Homedics 5 in 1 TotalClean Air Purifier AP-T30 review

Key features
- HEPA filter
verdict: Effective but noisy
None of the Homedics air purifiers we’ve tested have scored very highly in our tests. The AP-T30 did better than most, removing plenty of nasties from the air in our test chamber, and without using up much energy. But it’s really let down the by noise it makes.

verdict: Terrific but noisy
Homedics air purifiers haven’t tended to shine in our tests. This one is great at filtering out particles, as is the slightly smaller AP-T30 model. But both share the same fatal flaw: they’re very noisy, which could lead to you rarely using them.
- Performed well in our CADR tests
- Energy efficient
- Very noisy
- Not the easiest to use
