Which companies offer auto insurance are considered Recommended Providers?

NFU Mutual

In this survey, NFU Mutual came out on top for both client satisfaction and policy offerings, making it the superior insurance provider.

You won’t be able to locate fully complete policies on comparison websites, but if you give any of NFU Mutual’s 300 branches a call, they’ll be happy to assist you with purchasing one.

It comes with no fees and an annual percentage rate (APR) of 0% on monthly payments, and its policy scored more points than any other provider’s policy did for the policy features that we believe to be the most crucial.

Unfortunately, NFU Mutual might not be able to provide consumers in all postcodes, particularly those located in major cities, with an insurance coverage.

LV

LV was the provider with the second highest score for customer service, and its policy was ranked among the top five (out of 40) in terms of the levels of coverage it provided.

It distinguishes itself from competitors by providing standard unlimited coverage for the theft or loss of your car keys and protection for no-claims bonuses against an unlimited number of claims.

Saga

Customers praised Saga’s value for money, policy clarity, and convenience of maintaining their insurance online. Saga is a specialist in providing insurance for people over the age of 50 and held the second highest policy score, behind only NFU Mutual, with its ‘Plus’ policy.

Customers who purchase the company’s ‘Plus’ policy are given a ‘fixed price promise,’ which states that their premium won’t increase for a period of three years unless there is a change in their risk profile (such as filing a claim or being convicted of a moving violation, for example).

The Straight Line

Direct Line continues to hold its position as a recommended supplier despite being one of the largest insurers in the industry.

It earned a Customer Score of 79 percent, making it the third highest in the industry.

Although Direct Line does not feature on price comparison websites like its sister firms Churchill and Privilege do, it is still a good idea to receive a quote from them by calling their customer service line or going to their website.

How we choose the top auto insurance companies Customer satisfaction ratings

The customer score was derived from responses given by 1,876 auto insurance consumers who were asked about their most recent claim experience. The rating indicates the degree to which consumers report being pleased with their service provider and the likelihood that they would suggest it to others.

In order for providers to be considered, there must be a minimum sample size of 30.

Why limit your questions to customers who have already filed a claim?

When the time comes for you to file a claim with your insurer, you will finally find out how wonderful their customer service actually is.

When an accident occurs, the best insurance companies will demonstrate their problem-solving abilities by rapidly processing your claim and getting you back on the road as soon as they can.

In some instances, we are only able to provide our expert policy scores because it can be difficult to identify the required number of consumers who have claimed for certain insurers.

Policy scores

The policy score is our evaluation of the level of standard coverage after analysing each of the 73 components that make up an auto insurance policy. We give a particular amount of weight to certain aspects of coverage or expenditures (fees and excesses), based on how much of an impact we believe they typically have.

The insurer’s guarantee on repairs, coverage for glass damage, conditions of its No Claims Discount, whether it will provide a replacement vehicle, its fire, theft, and accidental damage excesses, and interest rates charged for paying premiums in instalments are some of the factors that carry the most weight.

This analysis is performed on a yearly basis. The following revision is scheduled for January 2023.

Total score

When ratings for both customers and policies are available, insurance companies are placed in order based on their Total Score. This score is comprised of a fifty percent weighting on the client score and a fifty percent weighting on the vehicle insurance policy score.
