This Meaco may be small, but you can rely on it to remove plenty of moisture from the air, whether in a warmer or a colder room. Its compact size means it’s easy to move around, too. This dehumidifier is small but mighty. It’s excellent at extracting water, energy efficient and easy to use. It’s very similar to the Meaco DD8L, which is slightly lower-spec. • Easy to use
  • Humidistat works effectively
Cons
  • No issues but you could save money by going for the very similar but slightly less sophisticated DD8L instead

verdict: Good option for larger spaces

This dehumidifier is a good choice for large spaces or major damp problems, as its big water tank means it can absorb substantial amounts of water from the air without needing to be emptied too frequently. This does make it quite heavy and hefty to move around, though. It also has useful features such as a sleep mode and timer, and an effective humidistat.

  • Effective humidity sensor
  • Energy efficient
  • Large water tank
Cons
  • Heavy
  • Water tank might be hard to grip when full

Compare

verdict: Superb dehumidifier

This Meaco is now several years old, but remains one of the best dehumidifiers we’ve ever tested. It’s great at extracting water from the air in warmer rooms and (unusually for a refrigerant) in colder rooms too. It’s designed for larger homes, so it is bulky – opt for a more compact model if, say, you’re a single person living in a small flat with only a mild damp problem.

Pros
  • Excellent moisture removal in warmer and colder rooms
  • Energy efficient compared to many
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Bulky

This is a good dehumidifier if you’re after something with a large capacity – both for the extraction rate and for the water tank. It would suit large rooms that are kept at a typical room temperature, but steer clear if you want it for a garage. It’s a bit heavy to handle because of its size but it’s generally easy to use, particularly the control panel on the machine.
